Rafael Salazar is the husband of Violeta and the father of both Rex and Caesar. He was killed during the Nanite Event.
History
Early life
Rafael was born in Buenos Aires, Argentina. Later on, he became a scientist and married Violeta, who gave birth to both of his sons, Caesar and Rex. Years later, Rafael was employed by the Consortium to work on the Nanite Project with his wife and oldest son, Caesar. At some point, Rex had a life threatening accident which prompted Rafael to inject him with nanites to save his life,[1] ultimately giving Rex the ability to grow machines. This gave the Consortium a new objective.
Rafael overheard the Consortium's twisted plot, which was to use the nanites for world domination. They destroyed the project by blowing up the nanites, thus causing the Nanite Event. However, Van Kleiss was directly responsible for Rafael and Violeta's death, locking him along with his wife inside the nanite reactor room.[2]
Post-mortem
Since Rafael's death, Rex has traveled far and wide, unintentionally learning of his parents along the way. When Rex went underneath Abysus to retrieve a Meta-Nanite, he discovered his father's office, which held a photograph of young Rex and his father.[3]
