EVO wasps that eat nothing but metal are destroying every village they come across, as they make their way towards China. It's up to Rex to stop them, but since all of his nanite weapons are made of metal, he'll have to come up with a different solution.
Rex faces off against a swarm of hybrid EVO insects called Lomitle. The Lomitle are an EVO mixture of locust, termite, and beetle that eat metal in mass, leaving a path of destruction behind them. However, defeating them is not an easy task as when attacked, they keep dividing through binary fission.
As the Lomitle rage towards China (the Earth's largest metal concentration is in Beijing), Providence pulls out all stops to halt their advance. Doctor Holiday comes to odds with White Knight, Agent Six, and Rex as she strongly protests against their "attack first, ask questions later" policy, claiming that not only will their methods cause the insects to divide but also will cause them to adapt to their tactics.
Finally, the team is forced to consult Holiday for help when the increasing numbers of Lomitle destroy the Great Wall where Providence had made its stand. Eventually, she synthesizes a concentrated version of a pheromone tag used by the Lomitle to mark prey (which she had sent Rex to gather--however, Rex almost ended up dead and the only sample was in his underpants). Providence sprays it on the insects, causing them to go berserk and attack (and devour) each other.
Later, Bobo, as revenge for Rex destroying more Lomitle than him, makes it public that "Providence secret weapon, underwear, saves the day". Rex leaves the Providence briefing room in anger as the story runs on TV.

- It is revealed that Rex has a pair of briefs with motorcycle patterns on them.
- Twice in the episode, Rex and Bobo compare the number of bugs they killed. Their comments and interactions with this strongly resemble a scene in Lord of the Rings where Legolas and Gimli count how many enemies they have killed.
